Some magazines test rental cars. Others get schmoozed by manufacturers and are handed keys to ringers to test. Sometimes you see the exact same test cars featured in five different magazines on the bookshelf.

That doesn't happen here at Planet LSX.

Instead, our little internet space decides to plop down the cold, hard cash to buy its very own project cars. We don't believe in getting pre-tuned cars to test, just to lay down impressive numbers for the sheeple. There isn't any fun in that, and we would rather beat the snot out of our very own cars, test them with actual parts, and provide our readers with no-nonsense results. If something we add to a vehicle isn't up to par, you will know first hand. If our track or dyno visits turn worse than anticipated numbers, our editorial won't be glossed over.

The newest vehicle in our fleet of test cars is the much awaited 2010 Camaro SS. We opted for the grab-your-own gears edition and waived the latte-sipping automatic. Yes Sir, nothing like factory 426 hp and six manual gears at your disposal, especially when we are talking about the excellent TR6060 transmission. Our project car also has the Rally Sport lighting package, as well as the upgraded 2SS leather and electronics option. If you dig the color that your eyes are scoping, it is called "Cyber Gray Metallic", and you will often see it typed out as "CGM" on the net. The wheels are the optional polished finish, and those 20's look huge in person.

What do we have planned for the Project ???? Camaro? And why do we keep using question marks for the name? Well, the name isn't decided yet. We are going to let our readers suggest some names and then take a vote to pick the handle. Our modification plans aren't mapped out just yet, but we will also be doing full installation write-ups on anything installed. Our crystal ball sees a full exhaust system, camshaft and spring swap, possible power adder system, suspension modifications, aftermarket wheels/tires, and some minor appearance mods. We will shoot for 10s in the quarter-mile, then maybe more later.

Stay tuned...
