More info on the 1997 30th Anniversary Hendrick Motorsport LT4 SS?
Thank you . . . :)
Here's some info I've been able to compile on the HMS LT4's
IMost info is based upon all the paperwork I got from the purchase on my Hendrick LT4.
I know SLP did the SS upfits for Hendrick.
There are nine Hendrick Motorsports LT4 Special Edition Camaro SS's.
The 1997 30th Anniversary LT4 SS's are SLP car #'s 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 23, 43 and 71.
The #1 SS LT4 was Rick Hendrick's personal car (Jim Perkins Now has this car).
The Hendrick Autogroup owns eight Chevrolet dealerships so each dealership sold one of the HMS Camaros to the public.
Dealerships were: City Chevrolet, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet (Durham, NC), Hendrick Automall, Performance Chevrolet, Colonial Chevrolet, Superior Chevrolet, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet (Charleston, SC) and Quality Automotive.
My LT4 SS was origianly sold from Performance Chevrolet.
MSRP was $47,250 - I believe they all sold for over $50,000.
All nine were delivered at the same time at a gala affair on June 25, 1997 held at Hendrick MS Headquarters.
Airfare and accomodations included.
The delivery was to occur at Charlotte Motor Speedway but it was booked.
Many of the nine cars are signed by SLP members, Hendrick, and some Nascar Drivers.
Purchasers had lunch with Rick Hendrick and Terry LaBonte
Jeff Gordon and Ricky Craven were a day late, and very few cars have their signature.
Matt Murphy was with SLP when this program was run.
Changes to the car are mostly appearance
Embroidered LT4 Mats
Hendrick LT4 Dash Plaque
Hendrick Key Fobs
Hendrick LT4 & SS Car Cover
Hendrick LT4 Special Edition Sail Panel Badges
Dual Dual Performance Exhaust
Level III Sport Suspension
Came with a short video of them being built at SLP
Other Info:
Only two HMS Camaros have the all white leather, the other seven have the white with houndstooth inserts.
The Hendricks crew did not like the exhaust, it was too quiet, but could not be changed in time for delivery.
The dual dual exhaust is interesting, it has extra resonators AFTER the muffler just before of the tail pipes.
Buyers had photos taken with their new Camaro and Terry Labonte at the HMS "Winners Circle".
The cars were delivered with a case of Quaker State Syn Quest Oil & other QS, stuff - which I current do not have.
Three of the nine were sold to mutial friends from Utah, two have been resold, the other is still owned by the original purchaser.
One car the owner had the outside of the hood signed and clear coated.
I have made contact with only one other HMS owner #4 of 9.
There is a start . . . . I own Hendrick Car #5, LT4 #6

Very, very cool. Although, I am not that nostalgic. If I was picking one of your cars to keep, it would be the Berger!

I may get hated on by asking this question, but what is so special about the Berger Camaro? Why is there only 100 of them made?

Berger Chevrolet located in Grand Rapids Michigan, is a family owned Chevy dealership, that just like Yenko, Baldwin/Motion, Dana, Fred Gibb, etc. Modified late 60's cars. But of all those names they are the ONLY one left.
In 2000 Berger celebrated is 75th Anniversary, and they brought back the dealer modified Camaro. They built the car for three years and only 100 cars were built.
So in a nutshell, a 4th Generation Berger is todays "Yenko".

Wow. Seen your stable on LS1Tech. :thumb:
That LT4 30th and Berger SS are two of my very most favorite cars ever. The white/red Berger SS is my all time fave Camaro, but that blue is just drop-dead stunning.
I know you've posted it before, but what more can you tell us about the Berger?

Thanks, all . . :)
To answer some of the questions . . .
For a career/living . . . I am an Architect, and 1/3 owner of a firm.
All LT4 Camaros were 6 speeds, as for the LT1 HMS, I think autos were available.
As for the my Berger. That was a many fold plan, since 2002 was the 35th anniversay for the Camaro, I thought it would be cool to have a unique Camaro built. When I found out the Camaro was being put on "hiatus", I knew I had to take the plunge and order a Berger SS. I was Novemebr of 2001 and I was at Chevy Vette Fest at McCormick Place, Chicago. Berger Chevrolet was there, as they had been many times before. Dennis Barker (salesman) was there, as well as a buddy of mine with a 2001 Berger SS. And that was when the devious plan was set in motion. A fully loaded Onyx and Ebony 2002 Camaro SS was ordered, including all the SLP options Berger would allow, such as 1LE, Portfolio, Floor Mats, Deck Mat . . . He completed Chevrolet Production early in February. Then was shipped to Bill Heard Chevy in GA to be picked up by GMMG, to start getting more powerful. With the Phase 2 package, heads, cam, ported TB, air box, ported MAF, long tube headers, underdrive pullys, catted performance y pipe, computer tune and other go fast goodies were installed. At that point Eibach lowering springs were installed, with custom LCA relocation brackets as well as 3:42 rear gears. Once GMMG finished their work he was sent back to Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids MI. There the exterior of the car was completely taken apart, and the car was re-shot with a specatular finish of 2002 Electron Metallic Blue and Arctic White stripes, buried under a glass coat of clear. The seats were updated with Torch Red leather seat inserts. 17" x 9.5" Fikse technipolish FM5's were the standard wheel for the 2002 Berger, shod with BFG KDW tires. Brake calipers are powder coated red with dimpled rotors. A black billet, grille with a late 60's "SS" adorn the front, and red outline "SS" badges complete the exterior with Cloisonné Retro Berger badging on the sides and back. Exhaust is routed through the famous GMMG chambered exhaust, telling all the the beast is coming. I finally was able to take delivery on June 20, 2002 were myself and a buddy flew in the Grand Rapids, to be greated by fellow enthusisats at Berger Chevrolet to take delivery. Once in my hands, drove him straight to Bakers Town, PA for the Tom Henry Camaro Show, and then home raking up over 900 miles in less than 4 days. What a ball to drive!
The STS-V is quite a machine to enjoy . . rough as a daily driver to work . . ;)
The LT4 is unique engine especially being used to LS1's. Very torquey.
Anyway again thanks all, and hope to run into a few over you. :)
