An eclectic track rental group today.
a couple Z06s
4 Skyline GTRs
A few M series BMW, mostly not the current version
half dozen AMG mercedes
Viper convertible
A couple supras
A couple beat up POS's that had been remotored with turbo engines.

and me. :)

Jamie Furman put his new viper into the 10s with a 10.92 @ 129 with just a 110 miles on the car. A dozen passes and he has it dialed into a 1.76 60' on the stock Michelen tires.

The GTRs were pretty damn fast, but watching them struggle with the electronic controls makes me glad that I can turn that stuff on the vette. The car is better looking in person than in photos.

The V12 turbo Merecedes were flying, with 10 second runs. The C63 was in the 11s with minor mods. The C63 is a very nice car for the money.

The Supras, well they were supras. They spent a lot of time in the pits being worked on. One was well over 140 mph, but still high 10s, IIRC.

And then there was me. The best I can say for myself is at least I didn't break anything... First time out with the vette and I was inconsistent. Managed to get a few 1.98s, but I had several wheel hop launches and a couple big spinners and a few 2.1s. I didn't miss any shifts but did tag the rev limiter in first a couple times. Nothing like enjoying the feeling that it finally felt ok coming off the line and then tagging the rev limiter as I'm trying to remember what I did right on the launch. :bang:

MPH is low for my mods, but I mainly attribute that to the fact that I'm super rich up top. I haven't had a wideband on the car and I left the tune very rich until I could get to a dyno and dial it in. I'm sure there were a few slow shifts contributing that too.

Bottom line: 12.27@ 117.5, 1.98.

Kinda sad when I think that my Z28 would go 11.50s with that same mph. Nothing like a slushbox with 4000 stall for the average guy. ;)

Sorry about the frustrations at the track. More seat time in the car will help alot. Atleast you had a good time.

The cry of a M6 owner......

If going by my MPH I would be running 1x.xx in the 1/4 :D

Yea, dont worry I have had both and definitly it was fun running the auto and just worrying about how much throttle I gave. My m6 that I have now has gotten better only because of a Bias Ply slick and a 5k dump.

^^ slicks definitely help the 6 spds but like coach said seat time :)

Seat time dude and you'll get her down...I consider tagging the rev limiter a missed shift BTW ;)

What tires were you running?

Seat time is a must. a sticky tire will def help you learn alot faster becouse its pointless on street tires with any kinda power in a manual.

Glad to see Furman put the Viper in the 10s in front of an audience. He seems very good at learning a vehicle's characteristics at the drag strip.

'grats Joel, I can't shift a stick to save my life. I'm guessing you'll tag 120mph with a tune.

I see a pewtery brown Skyline on my daily commute. He always weaves his way thru traffic to catch this one light and hit like 70mph in the city. Jealousy > me.
