Good article!

Since I have a 2008 Z06 I found this article interesting. The 1/4 mile time of 11.55 @ 124.9 mph (2.07 60 ft) is very impressive and speaks a lot for the driver. I have seen these cars run at Beech Bend running low to mid 12's.

I haven't had mine on the track yet but I am looking forward to it and hope I can get into the 11's first time out (I suck at driving the quarter). My Z has a CAI and tune and I pulled 475/450 on a Dyno Jet dyno so we'll see.

Jim (Intmd8) at www.LS1Speed.com ran I think an 11.3 or 11.4 @126-127mph with a CAI and tune in his C6Z.

jub jub, my first pass down the track was an 11.9X at around 123. I left very easy to see how the tires would grab. After that, I managed to knock off about half a tenth on each consecutive pass, until heat soak eventually made the car start slowing down into the 11.6s consistently. Ran a handful of 11.56-11.59 passes. Sure would have been nice to be able to floor the throttle earlier in the 60', but that resulted in massive wheel hop and spin. The 10 or so passes I made sure helped get a feel for the car. I'm guessing most of the slower times posted out there are largely as a result of minimal passes and limited seat time.

Hey Tony what rpm were you coming out at, and were you slipping the clutch?

You say 11.55 was your best, and you mention the issue of wheel hop, possible traction issues with the run flats, and the issue with the 3-4 shift hitting the traps. That is pretty damn stout with all of those things listed. Good write up.

Good review! I've driven a '07 Z06 many times and those cars are blasts to drive!

John, I was holding the rpm around 2800-3000 and slipping out the clutch gradually, then rolling into the throttle. Hence the weak 60' times. Track was slick that day, SW couldn't even make a full pass in his Supra. Never would hook for him.

I need some more miles on mine. Just got to 250 today. I got on second getting on the interstate and it was fun.

MPH is pretty amazing for a factory car. Over 120 mph is just a rush.

very nice....so when are you going to TWS? is it going to be an open event that anyone can come watch, or closed track? i live in college station, so i'd love to come out and see it run if i'm not working that night, or otherwise tied up

Great write up, I know I said it before but I really do love the new layout.

Unfortunitly I have to hate you because your car collection is better than mine.

Awesome pictures and great article too! I loved the rolling shot that was on the home page and the picture of it at the starting line.

Any plans for modding it?

It would probably help a little, but based on Nine Ball's write up, it looks like wheel hop is more of an issue than traction.

seems like the Z06 has been in the shadows of the ZR1 since its debut but its still probably dollar for dollar one of the best (if not THE best) showroom stock racecars out there....
