View Full Version : Haven't posted in a while, just been lurking.
Its been a little while since I posted up anything, just been lurking but haven't had much time to update anything.
Since having the Viper I've changed a couple of cars and most recently landed in an 09 STS-v. Looked at CTS-V's first but they just felt too tight for my fat butt, not to mention it seems like I see them everywhere lately. The color also was a huge attractant for me as well as the rarity. (only 96 built in 09 and only 6 in this color combo)
Here it is in its current state.

So far I have added a stage 1 and 2 intake, custom suede headliner, and BC Racing Forged 3 piece wheels custom painted to match the car.
Waiting on some D3 lowering springs, Baer rotors, D3 stainless lines, GMPP cat-back exhaust and some poly bushings for the rear axle.
Not any huge power plans for this one, just a fun comfy ride that can merge well.

Howdy Nino! The Caddy is going to look killer once lowered. Nice mods list, as usual. Still have the Viper?
Let me know if you would like a username change, maybe just to "Nino" or something. Since no Pontiacs any longer.

Thanks man, I was hoping the springs would get here first, but whatever I guess LOL
Sold the Viper. I just got tired of it and dont have the space indoors to keep too many cars like that and with still living in La Marque, Im not leaving them outside LOL . Awesome car and I may get another someday to play with when I move and get a bigger garage.
As for username, yes please. :) Nino would be sufficient.

96 built. No wonder I haven't noticed one on the road.

Yeah I haven't seen one in person either... Sup Nino!
Yeah, it was weird when I came across it at the auction. I saw sts-v in the model listings and clicked to see and as soon as I saw the color I clicked the buy button. LOL
So far so good. I had a V6 STS for a while and loved it so I knew I would like one with a little more spunk.

Wow, that is rare... I didn't even know they were making newer STS-V's. I looked at them for the previous body style (2005-ish), but figured they'd met their end with the new body style changeover. Nice cars.
3 things scared me away from the STS: the Northstar, the Auto Trans, and the Gas Mileage (I had to have a car that got at least 20 mpg). I really like the looks and the room though.

I seriously thought that was a CTS-V based on looks. Very nice car.
I'm with Andrew though - those Northstar engines scare me. Beyond that, I really like those cars.

IIRC, the only change to the STS-V was the addition of fender vents in 2008. Otherwise, they retained the same 469hp sc 4.4 N* throughout the run. Not quite sure what other body style you might be referring to, though. The only other "STS" was a trim on the Seville.
There is a local guy with a black one. I'm probably the only one around who actually knows what it is. Otherwise, the only one I've ever seen on the road since they came out was back in State College in 2006.
Correct, the only change on the STS-v from 05-08 was fender vents.
On standard STS models the front and rear facia's changed in 08 as well.
I was also concerned about the northstar, but with the limited amount of mods I will do and the job at a dealership I figured I would be safe. The trans is the only thing that scares me. As for mileage, Im averaging 18 since putting on the intake and from what I have read the exhaust offers a sizable boost in MPG as well.
One thing I do like about the northstar, the sound. Not as brutish but very euro muscle.

Fender vents, haha. You and I both know there are 10,000 cars with those fender vents rolling around Houston, most not even Cadillacs. ;)

I would remove them, but dont want any paintwork on the car.
I may have them painted to match. IDK yet

So when did the STS become RWD again? I never really paid attention since I assumed they were still FWD. I, like you, enjoy large spacious seating.....

2005 was the first year of the STS as pictured above. STS was never it's own model until 2005 -- just a trim level of the Seville since the 50's.
