Hi all!
Have a Black '01 SS M6 (16k) that's been sitting in my garage finally going to get some attention. "Old" car was a nice weekend hot-rod/garage queen (Lingenfelter H/C 346, Simmons 18", some show goodies, etc).
Was this....:D

After 5 LOOONG years and a few "set-backs" :bang: , WE are starting to put some effort towards realizing what should be a pretty cool ride... I emphasize "we" as I have a very patient and tolerant bride that is equally on board in completing this project.
Some of the in-progress project highlights include:
Wheels:
Fikse FM5s - 18x9.5 and 11" in Dark Speed Silver - fit for narrowed 1" per side rear
Engine:
Shopped many builders over the past 6 months. Narrowed it to two of them and visited Virginia Speed. Looking for a "application specific combo" and not a culmination of off the shelf parts, they were completely in line with my needs. Started as simple 440....ended up upgrading a few things ;-)
RHS 460 - shortblock in progress.
Heads will be blessed by Mozez and will be fed via Marcella.
Cam is TBD and will be targeted to perform in a street RPM.
Misc components include a yet to be decided rear end (S60 or 9"), some show touches, UMI tubular front end goodies (K, control arms, etc)....blah, blah, blah.
Looking to have it glued together by Power Tour next June. Would love to roll this thing out with some of the nation's coolest rides in our home state! Updates to follow in the upcoming weeks....

Gonna have to find a way to pack this thing under an fbody cowl. Dimensions are the same height as a Maggie, but may have to get creative in a couple areas to make sure it fits without losing wiper function. Need to get it hand in order to completely asses.....back to damn body shop.

Thanks guys....good point Tony and maybe a plan B. Really dont want to lose them or tear the hell out of the cowl.
Shawn confirmed the finished height is 1/4" taller than some of the sheet metal intakes he's stuffed under these cowls....so maybe a K-member shim or two will do the trick.
tonesSS - Shawn has a few cam shafts he plans on playing with. Couple of them donated by Crane....well, cuz they thought it was cool build. All Shawn has ever mentioned was "well over 800".... Should be hearing, seeing actual numbers by next week.

If it's a tubular K, I certainly wouldn't feel bad about cutting and rewelding the motor mount stands to sit the motor a little lower. Heck it'd handle better too. Just don't forget to check driveline angle, the trans tailshaft should sit a touch lower than the nose of the crank, so you might have to modify or rebuild the trans crossmember as well.

Awesome set up man. Can't wait for pics... Fikse hook you up with an offset up front to clear the brembo's without a spacer?
Fikse was great to work with. We built them to fit a "conventional" bbk caliper anticipating they will fit the V cal's.
Very nice. That is going to be a killer power plant!
All on pump gas too. :headbang: Can't wait to see the numbers this engine can produce with the tune and ready to rock!

HOLY CHIT!!! THAT's impressive!
Now I'm wondering what the hell my 457 with/ 55mm Harrop ITB will eventually make. (ETP 265 heads, jesel valvetrain)
First cam we ran was actually designed for a Harrop based on 468 they worked on - his made about 760fwhp with PI 275s. FWIW, there's a 455 over on Tech that made 705 / 663 with his Harrop set-up (also with PI 275s).
These ITBs are the ticket with big motors. The Kinsler and head combo on this engine flows an ass load more air and basically died out at 6200. The new cam made more torque and power everywhere but it too died out except at 6500. RPM wise this is exactly where I wanted to be. Believe it or not 800 was expected but a little deeper.
I'm headed to SEMA for a couple days and intend on trying to meet up with a couple folks from Crane who have apparently expressed some interest and may have a few ideas sooooo we may not be completely done yet :secret:
Good luck with yours!!

A little reversion due to the air that intake breathes...runner length, velocity, etc. Pretty common with ITBs....

The ones on now may be there for "policital" reasons for the next month or so :secret:, but we'll see. A few more purty ideas rollin around in my head when it gets back in my paws, but I think its coming together pretty nicely.
Cam #3 is going through spintron testing as I write this....completion is TBD. Another half dozen degrees bigger on the intake/exhaust duration side, but everything else is pretty much the same, a few more rpm, a little easier on the valve train compared to what's in it now and will truly be a hydraulic roller ...power numbers will be what they'll be when the smoke clears....but it will be more :judge:

Going through that now. Squeeze it under the cowl with some influence then hope the hood closes. It'll be close.....might have to shim the K a little.

I'm going to go with an aftermarket hood once we get the engine in and know what kind of height issues we'll run into and then make sure to get a hood that fits. Most likely going with a Camaro SS hood with maybe a 1" height difference from stock.
Biggest fitment issue is the sides. Top is bad, but so are the shock towers.

Map sensor was fun to position and make sure was "serviceable" just in case. So I came up with this. Found a clip that attached to a 3/8-ish line and bonded it to an LS1 sensor. If it were to fail for some reason, simply reach back to unclip and replace!
