its probably that whistle that scares them off!

i wonder what the afr was and if it has any room for improvement from a tune.

id say theres room with a tune. GM always leaves us some nice extra power to be found after purchase lol

I saw one sitting in a service garage of a dealership the other day. Looked real good in person.

Tell me about it! I don't think I've ran into ANYBODY on the street in this car and I've had it for a year :(.

Good find! I'll be sharing this with everyone I know. Looks like it made pretty good power. I'd like to see what it'll do with some tuning. Any tuned G8 GXP's out there? I'd say that would give us a pretty good idea.

I don't understand how those numbers sound right...

430 FWHP has THAT much parasitic loss? I understand the numbers can be screwy for a many number of reasons, and I have no clue what kind of dyno Livernois has, etc., but still...

Those seem like the numbers an auto car would put down with the L99... not the LS3 6 speed.

I don't claim to defend this camaro, (I'm actually not to fond of them), and I can be entirely wrong... but the LS3 vettes ...

Using a 15% drivetrain loss...

422 fwhp x .85 = 358.7 rwhp

huh... I guess I would buy that... but then that means all those damn vettes dyno high?

dont the numbers go up once the engine has more miles in anyways

Let the modding begin. Thats a nice starting point for a car with a warranty though. Hell the LS1 didn't start there and look at what they are capable of. Of course there is more weight to overcome in the new car and its IRS so we'll see what happens. I can't wait.

For years I've been using 87% as my correction for manual trans and non-9"-axle cars with synthetics in the trans and rear. Of course, I don't operate a dyno. Anyways, it puts the Camaro at 418.39 crank HP, which is close to the 422 GM claims.

I couldn't care less about the dyno... I want to see how they run at the track with basic bolt ons and maybe a set of DR's. I imagine there is quite a bit to be gained just with a tune.

we are just assuming that car being dynoed has no miles on it,unless someone quoted the miles i missed it......but yes it should pick up a few more ponys with a bit more miles.

Low numbers are from the % of power lost through the drivetrain.

I thought GM discontinued the SS, along with the "V" program?

GM puts SS on a lot of stuff, I don't think they would discontinue it.

Any redesign or new SS models yes. The Camaro is the exception because it was done just not released.

Come to think of it, I remember a thread on tech where the factory tunes between the Vette and G8 GXP were compared and the Vettes have a lot more timing in them, something like 5 degrees or better.

Also, I don't know what the Camaro exhaust looks like, but Corvettes have true duals with an H-Pipe as well as the muffler bypass cutouts.

Correct. If it's already out, it will remain. However, don't plan on seeing any new SS vehicles rolled out for awhile.

This means we won't get a limited-production Camaro that can equal the 2010 Mustang Cobra's 540 horses. Oh well, at the price and weight, it's more 1970 Monte Carlo than 1969 Camaro. So, who'll be the first to strip one to see if it can be driven legally at under 3000 pounds? And weigh the IRS stuff to see what a solid axle would do to the deal? And why only 245-width front tires? No wonder GM is dying. Can't even sell the Solstice GXP for under $20k.

New cars weigh more, period. With the added safety standards being mandated, cars have no choice but to weigh more. Who cares about 245 width tires either? Put wider wheels on it if you want wider wheels, it's not a Corvette.

The Solstice GXP isn't a Miata either. It has a 260 hp turbocharged Ecotec motor with a shitload of potential. That extra 100 hp over a Miata isn't free, and neither is the refinement.

GM is dying because nobody is buying any cars period. Not just GM, not just North American cars, all cars. The economy sucks right now.

Nice vid!! A couple bolt ons and a tune and you'll be knocking on 400hp.

Theres always the possibilty slp could bring out a forced induction camaro, although i doubt it. They were working with fi on a new "firehawk" so who knows.
