Newbie with a 5.3

Been registered here for a little bit, but just now getting around to posting. I recently bought a 5.3 engine and I am putting it into a 68 chevy swb pu. Joined up for the wealth of knowledge I see here. Got lots to learn !!! I do have an 07 Tahoe with a 5.3 in it (all stock everything) that I would like to tweak on a little to see if I can get anymore fuel mileage out of. On my 68 pu I'm not gonna be concerned about fuel mileage , more interested in performance....not looking for a race truck , I already have a drag car, just want it to sound good and hold its own on the street . Sounds like a very cool build... Most of the time those older trucks can't get out of their own way, so having one with a newer mill like a 5.3 will surprise some folks... And Mustangs. :)

I'm planning to stuff a LS engine into my '51 Merc which already is powered by a stout SBC crate engine. Car feels like it's already somewhere in the 14's so I'm hoping to be in the 13's with some sort of LS engine.

I love the 49-51 merc .... very KOOOOOL cars. Be even kooler with the l-s engine .
