I've been contemplating another truck lately, but after test driving a few I decided that I prefer getting 20+ mpg with my current diesel truck. Another good reason is that this one is paid off, and I'm not too interested in spending another $40-50K on a new truck again.

The guys at Helix nicknamed it "Bubba Spur", because one guy had a V6 longbed white Dodge nicknamed "Spur". Bubba is the redneck version, LOL.

Since I decided to keep the truck, I also decided to put some money into it and freshen it up. Right now it has 94K miles on it. Its had its share of maintenance issues, but nothing major.

-Two new batteries
-Replaced alternator
-Replaced steering rack

That's it for 94K miles.

Mods:

American Force 19.5 forged wheels with Sumitomo 245/70-19.5 tires.
2-inch leveling kit for the front end (spring spacer, longer shocks)
LED cab clearance lights and tail lights
TST Powermax CR tuner
K&N cold air intake
MBRP stainless catback system
Fab-Tech nerf bars
It puts down about 390 rwhp and 800 ft-lbs, yet still gets 22.5 mpg average.

I only wish i had a work horse like that, one day when my business takes off, i will try to get a newer didodge or a duromax, whichever seems to be the better choise(I get mixed reviews).

THink that is the truck you were in when i met up with you to buy a part a while back.

I like the truck, a lot. I really like the white. Definitely a lot of truck though. Pullin 20+ mpg is pretty amazing, and has me thinking diesel is the way to go.

Awesome truck. (Gotta love those Dodges, but I am biased. lol) Over 22mpg is awesome too. Looks to be in really good shape for a '04. I love the LED tail lights. They look awesome on there.:chug:

You need one of those stickers that says "I'd rather be cummin' than strokin'" to complete the "Bubba"-ness.

looks so much better and i agree, i would rather have a 5.9 pre-emissions than the heavy fuel hungry combos out now (plus the huge price tags)

thats a great looking stance as well

2006 5.9L automatic, 2WD. They stopped making the 5.9L mid-year 2007.

Tony, you didn't mention that you bought this during the big gas price crunch, and paid a song for it. ;) That makes it even better. It was WAY under priced. I bet he could sell it today for darn near what he paid for it years ago.

There's a song by Ray Wylie Hubbard called "Screw you, We're From Texas." First thing that popped into my head...

The value of the truck actually went up. I bought it when diesel was $4.00/gallon, nobody was buying them at the time. Market shows this truck, in this condition is about $22-23K at the moment. The 5.9L is in high demand too, Dodge guys seek out this particular combo for towing now. Even dealers offer good trade-ins on clean 5.9L trucks.

Nice truck Tony, as you know I work for a dodge dealer and have my pic of the litter if we have more than one. Right now Im driving a Mango-Tango Sport, however I was just informed that we are getting 9 diesels from a local dealer that is going out of business. So im taking a white '10 mega duley diesel... Can't wait!!!

Very nice!! Awesome looking truck for sure, especially the sport model. My truck is the GoMango color and I get compliments all the time on the color.:burnout:

Is this the one I checked out for you? If so it looks better than it did back then even several years later.....

Yes! Your test drive was worth it, the truck has been very good so far. I had a Dodge dealership inspect it thoroughly (to the tune of $1200) when I bought it, and they said the truck showed no signs of real work or abuse. I've put about ~50K miles on it since.

$1200!? What all did that entail?

Damn. This is steering me more towards getting a Diesel rather than Gas truck.

I had them go through the trans, rear axle, turbo, and also change all of the fluids in the truck. Since I bought it used, I wanted to make sure everything had been maintained before I started driving it. They also inspected for accidents, gave it an alignment, and reflashed the computer with the latest ware.

Good call Tony. Better to have piece of mind than to be stuck with a piece of,...well you know.
The truck does look great.

Wow, sounds like a sound buy then. It certainly looks better now! That was a quick minute ago, lol.
