Can I give you the long version of my answer...
I believe when there are problems that both sides have to be fair, honest, and looking for a constructive solution to the problem.
Example 1:
Let me give you examples of problems I've seen and been involved in over the years. Shop buys heads from head porter, installs them with a cam into a fairly new car, and a pin hole from over porting hydrolocks the engine in a car with 6500 miles on it The block has a hole in it, and at least one head needs to be fixed or junked. The solution? The head porter did not step up. Bad. Shop that installed the parts stepped up. Good.
Example 2:
Headers are installed. EGR connector weld fails, comes off. Header company sends new header before the bad header has been returned. Very good.
I'll try to think of other examples. I have stepped in to adjudicate problems before, and sometimes I have made a difference.
For every shop that doesn't step up, there is a customer who also isn't admitting that they did something wrong. Or they blame a failure on the wrong part. It all comes down to being fair.

Thanks heymoej, you are a perfect example of something that was out there for a while, and when everyone cooled off we all got something figured out. Thanks for sharing that.

maybe not always....but definately sometimes this is the case. its hard for people who dont run a business to understand that side of it. the consumer is only going to typically understand one side.....the consumer side.
