Great shots! Camera picked up the tire distortion really well.
What car made all the mess?

Thanks!
Bob Bode's Funny Car backfired, and the body flew off.

It still amazes me those tires stay on the rim and stay inflated. The forces generated on the bead and the fasteners must be astronomical.

Nice pictures - that is always a nice show. Wish I had been able to go.
Jeg won for the 7th. time. Another local Ohio boy Pat Dakin qualified in the top 10 with a 3.88 or 87 300 plus something mph but went out in the first round.
You have no idea how fast these vehicles are until you see and feel it in person. Christ a 3:88 1000' is close to a 3.1 something 1/8 mile.

Hehe.. no one can fully describe what a Fuel car feels like making a pass, you have to live it. :D

Great bunch of guys! I talked with them at their trailer for a few minutes during the long rain delay. They were more than happy to answer all of my newb questions! Hell, they event sent me home with a damaged piston souvenir! :thumb:
I was really happy to see them get into the field. Was unfortunate they got knocked out in the first round.

Pat Dakin has been racing for a log time and is a good guy. That might be his third qualifying attempt this year. I didn't think about asking that when I sent him an e-mail. There are some non sponsored racers who can qualify, and run, in these events. All it takes is money. The pits are always a great place to learn. To bad in my opinion too many young racers try and learn through pictures and the internet. :D
Thanks again for the photos - no bikes? Isn't this the second or third set of pictures you've posted here? :thumb:
I need to take pictures and post them. Perhaps tonight over at National Trail for "King of Columbus" I will.

I took the camera to The King of Columbus event. A Chevrolet powered Mustang qualifed first, Turley was third with a 5:10. In the second round, Down Town Mike Brown, dialed the car to 4:98. Ran a 5:01 in the finals for a victory.:thumb::newbie:
Assume no one went to MIR for Pritchards deal?

don't mean to sound like a newb, but in the pictures of the cylinder heads, what are the little silver pipes going through the middle?

All things considered, heard it was a pretty good weekend for the Ohio Boys! New bests on back to back days! The tranny incident was unfortunate, but Im sure it'll be buttoned back up soon enough.
Have I met you? Haha

Thanks for heads up on Steves car. I normally don't bother the Ohio Boys unless it's to confirm an upcoming event. I almost went to Norwalk last Friday until Mark and Steve said they were going to Columbus.
I looked at some of your other pictures from Ohio Valley. The Black Mustang with the Gold front wheels is Justin Johnson. Another Ford with a Chevrolet engine and some juice. He qualified first in Columbus with a 5:10. Steves car was running rich - Mike backed it down and the car responded. King of Columbus - might be an idea for an artile here or an update to the Turley 7:59article.
If the tranny was going to go. MIR was a good place. Just another 14 hr. road trip. The last Milan D/R is next month. Steve could win for the third year if J.R. goes out early.
I'll take the camera tonight - But you do such a nice job of taking pictures :thumb:

The Red car made one Test and Tune Thursday, nothing special.
:thumb: taking that camera again Saturday to Ohio Valley. I know part of my problem is the dog. Can't hold on to the dog, aim, and take pictures. Then, what do I take pictures of? The Nationals you went to are too slow. Division #3 NHRA track champs is this week-end at Indy. That's a bunch of sand bagging bracket cars. Nice cars, nice drivers, and crews. I've always thought outside of the box. Being white, I could go Saturday and take pictures of all the Black cars or Black folks. Just to prove I wasn't a R---------------.
