Did some pics for Josh's business.
Used a Circular Polarizer, tripod, and a remote. I'm very happy with them for a first time and he loves them! Enjoy. I put some pics of his finished products so you realize what he's doing.
Btw www.browndogwelding.com he does all customized work.

Yeah, I'm way stoked about how they turned out!

I've got a habit of throwing things and spraying sparks everywhere when I work.....I had to contain myself with the nice camera sitting there

Yeah, I do it for fun and profit . I was hoping to do it on the side while I found another fulltime job(ex-chrysler millwright/welder), but there's not much going on in the Detroit area. So I'm keeping busy doing this, and it's starting to grow. We'll see what happens.

Very nice photos.

Matt did a great job. We kind of thought it would be a practice session, he'd figure out settings and whatnot and we'd do it again sometime. I was 3/4 done with that bike when he showed up, and by the time I was done he already had a bunch of sweet shots! We still need to do it again, I'm waiting on my custom painted helmet to get in some pics:nod:

How much to get a 70 camaro made? Seems like it might be harder than some of the others since it's more curve.

You've made some SICK ones. The chopper and the rat rod I think it is look so awesome

I probably could give it a go...here is a '69 mustang I did last summer, pretty much the first "car" I did for a client. I'll send you a PM.

In "light" of this being the photo forum, I built a small light box out of PVC, white sheets and 4 office lights. That's where most of the pics on my site are from, taken with a cheap old kodak. Most of them are decent, some of them are a bit blurry

Now you need to make some 2010 Camaro's. I have a feeling they would sell like hotcakes right now :)

Do it up Josh! I'm sure you could sell it.

the 2010 definitely has good hard lines that would transfer well to a sculpture. I may have to try one. Cars like that tend to take up a lot more time though, and I don't have much of an attention span unless it's already sold  It's a lot more fun making the old school hot rods and bikes:D

well hell...i guess i'll have to go ahead and buy that new 250DX i've been wanting and give you some competition :D

Nice work BTW, those aluminum beads are very nice.

Heck yeah dude. There is a ton of potential for sweet shots in a welding/shop setting!

Thanks for checking out my site. I like doing aluminum. I wish I did enough of it to take my game to the next level, but I manage to get by:D

Edit: when you said 250DX, you meant the welder....I was thinking it was a camera for a second

Hell yes, I had a synchrowave 350 at Chrysler and loved it. I really like the dynasty 200 dx I have now, but hopefully something bigger will be in my future!

yeah i meant the welder, but i need a camera too  those dynasty's are badass too, we use a few for welding tubes in the feedwater heaters we build at work. i don't have much use for anything bigger than a 250dx at home, honestly i'd only need a syncrowave 200 dry rig, but i reall want the 250 since that's what i use every day and am used to. it's a little more capable machine for those few times i'd wish i had something bigger than the 200...

i made a little covered wagon and horse out of tig rod, er70s-6 if i recall, for my dad one christmas. it was badass, but his truck got broken in to and it was stolen a year later :(

Would this be a decent way to learn to weld? I don't the tools and have no experience but would like to learn how

Not really. I mean, it can be, depending on the project, but there are better ways to start. Really you want to be practicing stuff that you aren't going to see a lot of doing the bikes/cars. You'll want to learn by just laying down some beads on steel, then working on some butt joints, t-joints, ect., then moving on to different positions, thicknesses, materials, and processes.

The best way to go about things is to find a "qualified" welder(or two, or three) who will show you the ropes. Local community colleges usually have welding programs that can help too. I know a lot of guys are self taught, and that's cool, but "you don't know what you don't know". I see a lot of fabricators that put down "nice" beads that don't have any clue about metallurgy, joint prep, bead profile, ect. You can definitely teach yourself, don't get me wrong, but you need to be very diligent when it comes to researching what you are doing. It's definitely a quicker path when you have some guys who have been at it for a while to pick their brains and watch them work.

I'm a welder first and an artist second. It's frustrating to me to see how much "metal art" is out there that has just terrible welds. You could have a great vision, but you aren't going to put it to canvas if you can't paint, right? And yet I see all these "artists" try their hand at welding, sticking the metal together(barely), and calling it art(that wasn't directed at you, I'm just saying:D).

For me, the sculptures definitely keep me sharp as far as pedal control, and there are some occasions where I get a chance to lay some beads. But for starting out, you'd need to have a wider variety of exercises.

F-ing thieves.

The first big project I did....and really the only really time consuming project I've ever done, was an old John Deere tractor I made for my grandpa for christmas. it's was supposed to be for one christmas, it ended up being for the next christmas
