Cam only TA horrible time in 1/8.

Well my 3.23 geared ta didn't do so hot in the hot and humid weather yesterday. I made one pass and here's how it went.

60' 2.287
594' 8.196
1/8 8.713 @ 87.04mph

Hell stock it ran an 8.74 @ 84 so all my stuff only added 3mph?

What is the problem here guys? The car is a 347 but still stock compression pretty much. Has a predZ custom grind cam 230/236 (nitrous cam). The rings were filed for nitrous. Has ASP UD pulley. LS7 clutch.

Anyways I was hoping for a 90mph trap speed, even though it takes awhile for the car to get going bc of the gears. IT is just a lil upsetting.

first issue is how different was the weather from your previous benchmark? hot & humid could easily kill a couple tenths and a couple mph compared to a 60* dry day.

Next, your 60' sucks (no offsense, but relative to what the car is capable of). Was it worse than your baseline? A great 60' doesn't always add mph, but a bad 60' could indicate that you bogged after launch and that can kill mph.

If you have crappy tires, fix that. Your ET will come down, and your launch rpm will go up and that will really help MPH.

I launched at around 2500rpm and yes it bogged bc the 3.23 gears have 1st running to around 55-60mph so it takes awhile to get going. Also it did rain yesterday while we were on our way there. It was very hot and humid from the rain. It does have bald DR's on it right now that have been on the car for prob 3 or 4 years. 1 of the years it sit outside while I was rebuilding the motor.

The car doesn't have exhaust on it yet either, just has the bullets with turn downs on the end of the header.

Get your short time moving, and then see where you are.

Where were you racing? Track elevation, humidity, air temperature and barometric pressure play a huge role in how a car will perform from one day to the next.

Work on the launch and you will see ET drop and MPH improve. The bog off the line is murdering your trap speed. Just go try again and be a little more aggressive with the launch.

To worried about breaking the rear. I doubt with my gear the car is going to leave well at all anyways. I could really use a set of 3.73's.

Recommend not buying the gears and saving for a stronger rear. A 10 bolt behind a 6spd is living on borrowed time with a stock setup.

Totally agree.

Your setup is more than capable of running a half second faster in the sixty foot alone. Assuming you have some good tires, can drive the car decent, and you dont break anything, haha.

I understand your thought very well. It's just this car is mostly just for rolls on the interstate. I really just don't want to spend that much money for a rear end. So my car may see the track a few times but mostly it is just for playing on the street. I will give it hell though on my next trip out with the 4.10's and if it doesn't give me the times and mph I'm looking for I will start looking fo rthe culprit.

I've seen 4.10s in a 10 bolt survive a few track visits, but they do break easily if you wheel hop. Good luck. :D

haha well the 4.10's arrived today. They're new so they should take a nice 3500 dump atleast a pass or 2 just to give me what I want then I'll take it easy on it. Oh I'll be spraying a 100 shot as soon as I'm planted in 1st :D.
