What is your idea on the sleeve?

It has taken me until now (42) to finally decide on the design for mine. I'm looking at a half sleeve but haven't gone to an artist yet to have it drafted.

My tattoo will be based on my family and faith. The idea is to have a castle to symbolize our family's home. Then have the sky reflect the heaven's above. I'm going to have some the stones of the castle with family initials and names of passages. The main header over the door will have my grandfather's initials as he has always been a great guidance for our family.

Basic idea, but as I've said haven't pulled the trigger on anything.

Once you get started, it can be addicting. But at least make sure you have a good artist first. I made that mistake on my very first tattoo. Which is above, my last name. The flames coming off the top looked more like lightning. Had to redo it, and the artist that redid just used his outline for shading lol.

Eric, I'd be doing a sleeve based on Japanese art. I like antique Japanese wood block prints, and have one that I would use for at least half of the design.

btw, the top picture in posts above, the spider w/ web. Did it myself. Was somewhat learning. I screwed up tho because I put outline on sitting down with skin stretched. should done it standing relaxed. Oh well, live and learn. Going to finish someday. I've never tattooed anyone else but myself that one time.

Just curious tho, what did you all think of the skull with pistons behind it. Wanting to add to it, making it a half sleeve by putting in a ripped and torn checkered flag. Any opinions?

I think you're mixing up tattoos and magic markers.

The skin is a lot thinner on the palm side of your hand and you lose a lot of dead skin cells there due to constant wear, hence the fading or blurring. Most people get touch ups regularly on palm tattoos, which can get pricey and probably tiresome.

I only have one...I wanted tribal around my arm for years and I decided to give it a go and give it my own touch since everybody thinks tribal bands are over done. Some may say its redneck...but its my passion and hobby. Also gives me back up if I ever end up think about selling it(meaning I wont because of the tat)

i've attached a pic of my first (and only) tattoo (so far, at least....planning on much more). it's really two separate ones combined....the color part was done first, then the black was added later....i've had it in its current form for around 7 - 8 years or so (the color part for about 10 - 12), and it hasn't faded or anything yet....it's placed on my upper right shoulder.

not sure if you're being serious or not, but if so, this is one of the most retarded fallacies regarding tattoos i've heard.

i'm not going to deny that it may make the search more difficult, but there are lots of people who have very good jobs who have visible tattoos (and piercings).....and if it's that big a deal, you can always just cover them up while at work, assuming you don't go past the wrist/neck.

personally, i wouldn't want to work for someone who would deny me a job because of tattoos/piercings (i have both), as long as i had all the qualifications for the job.
