Not much to say about it right now guys. It was a good idea, whose time had not come. Too many variables to bring in only one class. The economy hasn't helped either. We really had hoped to put something together which would work for all of us but in the end, the negatives outweighed the positives. Believe me, we had really hoped to make it happen and felt it would be a slam dunk. However when the tech guys looked at it further and started getting really specific with the rules for roughly a nine to 10-second class, it became evident that we were probably barking up the wrong tree and would perhaps end up with a class which would force "slow" guys to step up (read spend money in a sour economy) or "fast" guys to back down for only one event ( and who really wants to do that?)
The best idea was to make a simple set of rules for the masses, but we all know that is not nearly as easy as it sounds. In the current economic climate it just didn't make sense to take a chance this year. Believe me, we didn't blow this off whatsoever. We put in a lot of timing thinking about it and had plenty of discussions. All of us at the NMCA wish we could have made it happen and we're sorry to those of you who were really looking forward to racing in this specific class.
The idea is still on the table for 2010 and we will revisit the idea in October.

If you get a awesome turnout, then classes can be made but it sucks if 20 people say they will show up but only 2. Thats kinda Ghey. Also I would be annoyed making a car for that class and have it cancelled.....

I have voiced our opinions for years on this subject, it falls on deaf ears when to many people who are not NOS racers are making the rules suggestions and ruin everything...oh well we enjoyed it when we went

Robert it's about having a multi-year sponsor, they were not able to secure that in a timely fashion.

I would have liked to have seen a nitrous only class!
Theres not really a need for one though. With half of last years competitive guys in drag radial either not not meeting class specifications for this years rules, or racing elsewhere, the nitrous guys may have a chance!

True. While there are 5-6 turbo cars that should be there this fall, in 2008 alone one was a no show, and 2-3 others fought parts failures.

Yeah, only time will tell. Im keeping my hopes up for a large turnout.
I think we'll see some really fast passes this year, but I think there will be a fairly large cushion between the top qualifiers, and the bottom of the field. That just means were a couple of broken parts away from having an 8.0's field, rather than a 7.40's race!
Should be competitive this year, for sure.

I thought we were headed in the right direction with the nitrous class.
I also think that pulling back on it will hurt us. We have waited every year for contracts to be signed for the lsx shootout giving the indication it is not multi-year so holding back on a nitrous class because of the inability to secure a multi-year sponsor seems to me like the wrong reason to pull back on the nitrous class
