Despite some intial rain, the third annual LSX Shootout has been off to an exciting start. While eliminations have not yet been run, we've seen some records fall for some new and veteran racers.

The 5th generation Camaro record has fallen a few times today, and the FastLane 2010 is the new record holder, with an outstanding 10.87@124 MPH. The ARD 2010 Camaro also broken into the 10's today as well. Fifth generation Camaros from SAM, ARD, FastLane, Livernois, and others have shown up. Robin Lawrence is campaigning his 2010 Camaro which is sporting a ZR1 engine/blower combination.

Texas Speed & Performance brought their red stock displacement 1998 Camaro to the shootout, and beat their old best of 9.85 with a strong 9.72@134.8 MPH. They ran a new best a few hours later and ran a blistering 9.66@130.8 MPH. Both sixty foot times were 1.30.

The Drag Radial class has been running qualifers Friday and Saturday, and Steve Turley has run the strongest, cranking off a 7.51 @ 194 MPH. Earlier Jim Filipowski ran a 9.65 @ 196 MPH. Mike Brown has been running his Trans Am and has run in the 7.6's just a tenth off from his personal best of 7.52@192 MPH that he set at Milan last week. Other Drag Radial efforts include Mark Koehler's Firebird and LMR's Trans Am which is owned by Dave Lewis. Mark cranked off 7.68 @ 187 MPH which is a personal best. LMR/ Dave Lewis have been dialing in their Trans Am and ran a best of 8.02 @ 180 MPH Saturday night.

The track crew has worked furiously all day to keep the track though it's been cold and there have been several major oildowns and a few cars have tagged the wall.

Check out these pictures from Drag Radial, All Motor, Index, and True Street. We'll be adding more throughout the weekend.
